- Cottonseed acid is a mixture of fatty acids obtained from the oil pressed from cotton plant seeds. In cosmetic products it works as a surfactant, helping water mix with oil and dirt so they can be rinsed away. It also acts as an emollient, softening and smoothing the skin.
