- In brief
- Candida bombicola/glucose/methyl rapeseedate ferment is produced when the yeast Candida bombicola is grown on glucose and methyl rapeseedate, an ester made from rapeseed oil. The fermentation yields surfactants known as sophorolipids. In cosmetic products it is used to cleanse, reduce oiliness, limit odour-causing microbes and help protect the skin.
