- In brief
- Synthetic Wax is a man-made wax made of hydrocarbons, produced either by the Fischer-Tropsch process or by polymerising ethylene. In cosmetic products it softens and smooths the skin, binds ingredients together, stabilises emulsions, controls thickness, masks odours and reduces static, giving products such as lipsticks and creams a firmer texture.
