- Pelargonium sidoides phytoplacenta extract is taken from the placenta, the tissue inside the flower's ovary where the seeds attach, of Pelargonium sidoides, a geranium species native to southern Africa. It is used in cosmetics to condition the skin and hair, to soften the skin as an emollient, and as an antimicrobial and antioxidant.
