- Methylmethionine is a sulphur-containing derivative of the amino acid methionine, sometimes called vitamin U. In cosmetics it is used as a skin-conditioning and protecting agent, and can also act as an astringent, emollient, or ingredient in oral care products such as toothpaste and mouthwash.
