- A chemically modified form of conchiolin, a protein found in the shells of molluscs such as oysters. The protein is broken down and then treated with a hydroxypropyltrimonium group to give it a positive charge, allowing it to cling to hair and skin, where it is used to reduce static and act as a conditioning agent.
